Youtube is working on a subscription-based streaming service called "YouTube Unplugged" that will let customers stream a bundle of cable channels online.

This service has reportedly been in the works since 2012. They have been talking with big content players (NBCUniversal, CBS, Twenty-First Century Fox and Viacom), but so far has been unable to lock down deals with any of them.

YouTube Unplugged is slated to debut in 2017.

CBS is the first major network to join YouTube Unplugged. Google is nearing an agreement to carry Fox channels, and talks with Disney and NBCUniversal are allegedly in their advanced stages.
